Inspired by the ever-changing world beyond the window, there is a quiet intention to bring the outside in — through natural materials, softened light, and gentle layers of texture. Creativity is not held to one practice, but allowed to move freely — from spaces to garments, from one-off pieces to sewing classes where skills are shared and carried home. A holistic approach at heart, where making becomes part of living, and what we wear, where we dwell, and how we create are softly connected. Always with the intention to create room — to breathe, to imagine, and to grow.

Born and raised in Tairāwhiti Gisborne, Chelsea Thorpe has always felt a deep connection to the space and place she calls home. Throughout her diverse career, a consistent thread has been her relationship with environment, both within the four walls of a home, and in the wider landscape that surrounds it.

From fashion design to interior design, Chelsea’s instinct to create beauty has found expression in both clothing and spaces. Her work is guided by a belief that the environments we inhabit, what we wear, where we live, and how we gather - shape the way we feel and move through the world.

As a mother of four daughters, this understanding has deepened, bringing a strong sense of purpose to her work. Alongside her interior practice, Chelsea now shares her knowledge of sewing through teaching with a focus on equipping others with practical, lasting skills they can carry into their everyday lives.

Working from a beautiful, light-filled shared studio in Gisborne, Chelsea creates a calm and supportive space where women can learn to sew with confidence. Her approach is grounded and intentional , teaching not just how to make a garment, but how to mend, adapt, and create in ways that become part of daily rhythm.

The aim is simple: to pass on skills that return a sense of capability and connection, so making by hand can once again sit naturally within the home.
